Ideas and research for the Steampunk Witch
Three rules
1) Always to have a weapon
2) To have a way to fly example wings broomstick
3)To always have a familiar
Reasons for the witch to have a familiar is that witches are most commonly seen and known with a familiar and they are used to assisted the witch in helping the devils as commonly known for.
Animals include dogs cats horses and owls and rabbits and crows.
1st Rule: All characters must have a familiar to help them.
Mood board and idea of the witches style:
Steampunk theme:
Second rule:
Always has to have a weapon of some sort.
staff or a walking cane.
Because the witches are normally associated with having a staff or a magical power of some sort.
Third rule:
To have wings or a way to fly.
Reason i have put this rule in is witch's are assumed to be able to fly in some way for example on a broomstick or they have wings which can be devil or fallen angel.
The idea behind magic and witchcraft in the early years was that it was feared by and also it was very bad to be accused of a witch you were sent to death.
Ways they would prove if you were a witch or not was they would tie your hands and feet together and throw you in a river if you floated you were a witch and was burned at the stake that same day and well if you didn't float you drowned anyway.
Mainly old women who had no husband that lived on outskirts of small towns would be accused of being a witch also if they had a black cat frog or any other animal that seemed unusual to have they assumed it was a familiar and that was helping the witch with getting close to the devil.
You have clearly included great research and research techniques here by using Mood boards and just gathering general information from the internet.
ReplyDeleteI like the rules you have chosen and I think they suit what you are doing very well. The concepts you have created are fantastic, They look highly detailed even though they were not supposed to be. The theme and descriptor you have chosen are very creative and could be challenging so its nice to see some experimentation.
I suppose you could have explained the reasons for choosing your rules so I know why you chose them. But overall you have a great layout on the blog and in your work in general
